We’re asking you for a donation. Here’s why.
When we launched two months ago, we honestly didn’t know who would show up.
Within three weeks, there were 300,000 of us — and earlier this month, over 11,000 people joined a house party and started working to win back the House. There is no now doubt in our minds: What we’re building together is real, and it’s powerful.
The question is: Can we sustain this momentum for the next 20 months until Election Day 2018? So we’re turning to you. We’re asking anyone who believes in Swing Left’s mission to win back the House to make a donation today.
We haven’t asked directly before, because — honestly — we wanted proof that this project had a realistic shot at being successful. We felt so strongly about this that no one on the team has yet been paid to do this work. (In fact, most of the expenses we’ve incurred to date have just been put on our founders’ credit cards.)
Swing Left has been an all-volunteer operation, and we’re immensely proud of that.
But we’ve also learned that we can’t be truly effective without basic infrastructure.
We want to keep developing tech tools, events, and content, and to hire a lean operational staff and experienced organizers to support our amazing volunteers.
We want to provide our team in GA-06 with the help needed to win their special election this spring, and swing our first House seat!
Make a donation today if you believe — like we do — that this mission is worth pouring our energy into.
Along with that ask comes a few promises:
- We won’t ever ask you for money when it’s not actually needed.
- We won’t abuse your inbox with never-ending requests.
- We won’t ever guilt-trip you if you haven’t made a donation.
- And for the people who contribute, we promise that you’ll know our gratitude — and that we’ll be transparent about our expenditures.
If you want to see what we all can do together, donate what you can today and become one of Swing Left’s founding grassroots donors.
Either way, we’ll be in touch soon with actions you can take to help win back the House.
Thank you so much, as always,
— Ethan, Miriam, Josh, and the Swing Left Team
